Daybreak.

I am not a morning person.

Particularly when I was up until nearly 1am, having pushed a writing assignment to the end of the weekend in order to spend time with several important people – myself among them.

So when I woke up just after 5:30 this morning and wasn’t able to get back to sleep, I thought, “Really?? You’ve gotta be kidding me right now.” But I felt compelled to get up and take advantage of the stillness. It may have been the best decision I’ve made in a really long time. I don’t know that one cathartic morning is going to inspire me to pop out of bed at dawn each day, but it certainly provided me with some much-needed perspective, a deeper understanding of some things I need to address within myself, and a moment of clarity around something I knew I’d been missing, but wasn’t sure how to get back. I don’t have the answers yet, but knowing some of the questions is a good place to start.
